The First Stone by Don Aker
The First Stone gives great insight into the minds of teenagers. This book covers many feelings that teenagers possess, and many actions they carry out. Don Aker is able to bring both of these things to life in Reef and Leeza, two very different teenagers, whose lives change forever when they meet. Reef is a young foster child with no family, so he naturally turns away from his problems by doing drugs and using violence. Leeza on the other hand is a young and smart teenage girl who has a great future ahead of her, but is still haunted by losing her only sister. Both of these teens represent the way many teens are, and Don Aker truly shows his understanding of the psychology of teens. Don Aker has written many books about the lives of teens, but this is the most inspiring. When you read this book, its as if you are Reef or Leeza, and you experience everything they do along side them.
